About the Marlborough Research Centre

MRC is an independent science based research organisation focused on working with the primary industries that Marlborough depends on – farming, winegrowing, horticulture, aquaculture and forestry. By improving all forms of production we aim to help grow the economy in Marlborough and beyond.

MRC scientists provide the knowledge and innovation to make the most of the region’s natural resources in a sustainable way. We test the suitability of new crops and we are internationally recognised for our research into sauvignon blanc and pinot noir, two of the region’s best known wines.

MRC has strong links with Lincoln University and the University of Auckland and we specialise in science that industry can use. We also help Marlborough companies source funding for research and development. Read more
