Simon Bridges, Leader of the Opposition visits MRC
Last week the Honourable Simon Bridges MP, Leader of the Opposition, visited the Marlborough Research Centre. An overview of each organization was presented by CE Gerald Hope; Damian Martin, Science Group Leader, Viticulture & Oenology, Plant and Food; Sue Blackmore, NMIT’s Wine Programme manager; Marcus Pickens, GM of Wine Marlborough; and Philip Gregan, CEO of New Zealand Winegrowers.
Awatere Fundraiser with guest speaker Sir John Kirwan
After two major earthquakes and youth struggling with the loss of a friend to suicide in Awatere Valley, the Awatere Valley Trust and Seddon Youth Group are putting on this event to raise funds for its community.

Durable Eucalypt trees an exciting alternative to traditional agriculture
The NZ Dryland Forests Initiative (NZDFI) has plans for 100,000 ha of durable eucalypt forests. These forests will be established in New Zealand’s east coast regions by 2030 and could generate an estimated $2 billion in annual sales of naturally durable timber products by 2050.

Mike Trought 2018 Inductee to the NZ Wine Hall of Fame
We would like to raise a glass to Mike Trought who was inducted into the New Zealand Wine Hall of Fame this week.
Mike says the invitation to the New Zealand Wine Hall of Fame came “out of the blue”.

VinWizard is one of the early members of the Marlborough Food and Beverage Initiative, or mFBI. It specialises in temperature control process management and software solutions for the wine industry.
Last year, it made its first sale into the Chinese market.
