2022/2023 Annual Report

MRC Trustees Clive Jones, Bernie Rowe and MRC Associate John Patterson outside the Marlborough District Council after presenting the MRC Annual Report.

Dear Friends

We are delighted to bring you our 2022 - 2023 Annual Report.

In this edition we bid farewell with gratitude to retired Trustee, Edwin Pitts, who served the MRC over several decades, while welcoming Clive Jones, a seasoned winemaking veteran, to the board.

The establishment of the New Zealand Wine Centre - Te Pokapū Wāina o Aotearoa (NZWC) with a name that not only encapsulates the activities undertaken at the Budge Street Campus but more importantly, signals the potential alliances and partnerships that will develop in the future. The NZWC with its broad research, innovation and education capabilities, will respond to a changing climate in a measured, methodical scientific manner.

The centre has flourished for the past 39 years, since its establishment in 1984. Back then there was a clear primary sector demand to set up an independent research organisation based locally with accessible researchers.  That forward looking decision has well and truly proven its worth across a range of measures. This continues to be a core activity facilitated through our local science providers.

Join us inside the report to explore last year’s highlights, exciting forward-looking developments, research insights, and more.
