NMIT’s spacious reception area is now open. It’s lofty entrance way includes Eucalypt on the external soffits. The NMIT carpark is now also completely open. Next time you are on campus, you will notice that the entry remains of 85 Budge Street, but the exit is now directed via Ballinger drive.

In-person events have become increasingly difficult to organise so we tried something new last month – a Field day via zoom. The 2.5 hour NZ Dryland Forests Initiative (NZDFI) workshop had 120 registrations, including 12 from Australia.

A key focus of the workshop was to present the tree breeding and other research work NZDFI has undertaken in Marlborough.

The Marlborough Regional Skills Leadership Group is a local, government appointed, group tasked with identifying and supporting better ways of meeting Marlborough’s future skills and workforce needs.

Forestry Minister Stuart Nash on Friday planted the first elite XyloGene seedlings of eucalypt species that produce durable heartwood. The planting spearheads a new phase for a project which has already seen more than 30 eucalypt plantations established in suitable regions of New Zealand.
