NMITs Viticulture and Wine School has been working with the Ningxia University of Agriculture in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province on a joint project for the past three years.

Harvest at MRC’s Rowley Crescent Vineyard also took place for a pruning trial collaboration between Bragato Research Institute (BRI), NMIT, Mark Allen from Mark Allen Vineyard Advisory Services and four growers, including MRC’s Rowley Crescent Vineyard.

Vintage 2022 officially commenced at our Rowley Crescent Vineyard on 17 March with harvests from the NMIT Trades Academy and the Bragato Research Institute team.

NMIT’s spacious reception area is now open. It’s lofty entrance way includes Eucalypt on the external soffits. The NMIT carpark is now also completely open. Next time you are on campus, you will notice that the entry remains of 85 Budge Street, but the exit is now directed via Ballinger drive.

In-person events have become increasingly difficult to organise so we tried something new last month – a Field day via zoom. The 2.5 hour NZ Dryland Forests Initiative (NZDFI) workshop had 120 registrations, including 12 from Australia.

A key focus of the workshop was to present the tree breeding and other research work NZDFI has undertaken in Marlborough.
